As our understanding of respiratory physiology evolves, so too will the methods for calculating and interpreting predicted PFT values.

While they offer valuable insights into respiratory health, clinicians must remain vigilant in considering the broader context of each patient's condition. Predicted PFT values are a cornerstone of pulmonary medicine, providing essential benchmarks for evaluating lung function. Their calculation and interpretation require a nuanced understanding of demographic influences and individual patient factors. As research continues to advance, the future of predicted PFT values promises to be more inclusive, accurate, and clinically relevant, enhancing our ability to diagnose and manage respiratory diseases effectively.

Jest to istotny parametr w diagnostyce obturacyjnych i restrykcyjnych chorób płuc. FEV1/FVC - wskaźnik ten określa stosunek objętości wydychanej w pierwszej sekundzie do całkowitej wymuszonej pojemności życiowej.

A patient's PFT results are often reported as a percentage of the predicted values, allowing for a straightforward comparison with established norms. For instance, an FEV1 value of 70% of the predicted value may indicate mild obstruction, while a value of 40% may suggest severe obstruction. The significance of predicted PFT values lies in their ability to provide context for interpreting individual test results.

These values are typically expressed as a percentage of the predicted normal, allowing clinicians to determine whether a patient's lung function is within the expected range for their demographic group. Key factors influencing predicted values include age, sex, height, and ethnicity.
